Eraly Game

Guess the year, travel through time

The Eraly game is a free daily history round. Each day brings the same seven moments from history, and you guess the year each one happened, anywhere from 1 AD to today. The closer your guess, the more points it earns and the further your time traveller travels.

What is the Eraly game?

A daily history game where you see a moment and guess the year it happened.

The Eraly game shows you a moment from history and asks for one number: the year. There are no multiple-choice options, so a guess is a real estimate, not a shortlist. You have 25 seconds per moment and the whole range from 1 AD to today to land in. Seven moments make a daily journey worth up to 700 points, and the closer each guess lands, the further your pixel time traveller walks along the road through time. It is the game people mean when they search for the Clueffy history game or the year game, and this page keeps it one click away.

A moment with no label asks for a real estimate

Most history quizzes give you four options and one is obviously wrong. the Eraly game gives you a scene and nothing else: no caption, no date, no era badge. The only information is what you can read from the image, so the answer has to come from your own sense of how the world looked and changed. That makes the first second the hardest. A multiple-choice question lets you eliminate your way to an answer; a year field does not. You either have an anchor, a reign, a war or an invention to place the moment against, or you are guessing from the style of the thing in front of you.

Points fall away with distance, not with confidence

An exact year scores 100. A close guess scores 85, a near one 60, a rough one 30, and anything else 10. The bands reward being in the right century more than being lucky, and they cap the damage of a wild guess at 90 points rather than wiping the moment out. That shape suits the subject, and it is also why the Eraly game rarely feels unfair. History is not a set of exact dates people carry around; it is a set of rough periods most people can place within a few decades. A game that paid only for exact years would be a memory test. This one pays for a sense of period, and that is a different and more interesting skill.

One shared journey a day keeps scores comparable

Everyone gets the same seven moments each day in the Eraly game, which is what makes a score mean anything. If each player saw a different set, a 600 would say nothing about how well you read history; it would only say something about which moments you happened to get. The shared set also gives the game a social edge. A friend's 550 and your 620 are directly comparable, and the difference usually points to a specific era one of you knows better. That is a more interesting conversation than a leaderboard of unrelated attempts.

The time traveller makes distance visible

A number out of 700 is abstract. A small figure walking along a road through the ages is not. Each guess moves the time traveller forward in proportion to how close you landed, so a journey has a shape: a strong start, a stumble in the middle, a recovery at the end. That visual is also a quiet lesson. Seeing the traveller stop short after a bad guess makes the miss concrete, and it is easier to remember which era tripped you up than which question number it was.

Infinite mode keeps the moments coming

The daily journey is one run a day, which is the right pace for a shared score but the wrong pace for someone who wants to practise. Eraly Infinite keeps dealing moments after the daily set is done. The ones you saw longest ago come back first, and new ones are added over time. That ordering is deliberate. It turns the mode into a slow review rather than a random grind, so the moments you missed return while they are still half-remembered. If you want a no-limit version on this site, the Eraly Unlimited page plays our own take on the same idea.

It is the game behind the Clueffy history search

If you saw Clueffy guess a year and a pixel time traveller walk through the ages, that was Eraly. It is also what people mean when they search for the Clueffy year game or the time game, which is why those searches lead here. The window on this page plays the published daily game itself, so you can stay on this site and still play the real thing. That matters for a game built on shared daily moments: the version here is the same set everyone else is playing, not a copy with different scenes.

02

Why play the Eraly game

The Eraly game is a daily history set with forgiving scoring and a journey you can watch unfold.

01

Guess the year

Each moment asks for a year from 1 AD to today, with no options to narrow the guess.

02

Scoring by distance

Exact scores 100, close 85, near 60, rough 30 and anything else 10, so a sensible period beats a wild exact guess.

03

Seven shared moments

Everyone gets the same daily set, so scores compare fairly and the difference between two results points to a real era gap.

04

A traveller you can watch

Each guess moves the time traveller along the road through the ages, turning a score into a journey you can read at a glance.

05

Infinite mode

After the daily set, Eraly Infinite keeps dealing moments, returning the ones you saw longest ago first.

06

No penalty for a miss

Every guess scores at least 10, so a rough answer still counts and a bad moment never zeroes the journey.

Who plays Eraly

The crowds a daily year-guessing game draws, and what each comes back for.

I read a lot of history and still miss by decades. The traveller walking short after a bad guess is the honest feedback a quiz never gives.

Seven moments over coffee is the right size. I do not chase a perfect 700; I want to know which century keeps catching me out.

The 25-second clock fits a train ride. I type a rough year, adjust if there is time, and the bands mean a rough year still counts.
